Young Fathers - "In My View"
New TracksCommentYoung Fathers have just announced the release of their third album, Cocoa Sugar, through Ninja Tune later this year. Yes, the Edinburgh trio is back, and I'm just stunned thinking about the artistic progression the trio has undergone to get to the point they're at with this new track, "In My View." It was only five years ago when I was praising Tape One and Two, a pair of creative lo-fi hip hop EPs with splashes of soul and West African music thrown in..
Two albums later, there's no mistaking a Young Fathers song – the chilling synthesizers, foreign rhythms, soaring vocals, and abstract rap verses all add up into an experience that's both fiery and contemplative. Check out the new music video for "In My View" above, and look for their new record on March 9.
Young Fathers - White Men Are Black Men Too
ReviewsScotland's Young Father's change direction, and head into lo-fi pop territory on this creative new album of theirs.
Young Fathers - "Soon Come Soon"
New TracksCommentFresh off a Mercury Prize win, previously loved Young Fathers have dropped a new single titled "Soon Come Soon," which features the trio's usual blend of hip hop, African music, and alluring balladry. The song starts with a loose, primal groove and ends with a gorgeous set of vocal harmonies. It's a warm track that brings back the natural vibe I enjoyed so much from their initial mixtapes, but was somehow forgotten on their recently released commercial debut.
Young Fathers - Dead
ReviewsCommentAfter two electrifying tapes, Scotland's Young Fathers come through with a huge sound on this latest album of theirs, Dead. I'm not as crazy about the songs, though.
Young Fathers - "Get Up"
VideosCommentYoung Fathers attach some shadowy visuals to the previously released "Get Up," which is one of the many tracks that'll be landing on the trio's forthcoming album, Dead. The LP is still looking at a release next week on Anticon Records. Enjoy!
