ZHU / Tame Impala - "My Life"

New TrackstheneedledropComment

On “My Life,” Kevin Parker completely abandons Tame Impala’s revivalist, psychedelic rock roots in favor of the sound of his collaborator, EDM producer ZHU.

Other than his distinctive voice, it’s difficult to hear any clear influence from Parker over the track. The song is slow, smooth and spacey. There’s not much to it other than slick production and a steady danceable beat.

It is not clear if the track is a precursor to upcoming work from either artist. ZHU’s last full-length album was 2016’s Generationwhy and Tame Impala’s was 2015’s Currents.

A.A.L (Against All Logic) - "Some Kind of Game"

This past week, Nicolas Jaar 'covertly' released an album titled 2012-2017 under his Against All Logic alias. As you may have guessed, it compiles much of the material he recorded as A.A.L between those years, including previously released pieces like "I Never Dream" and "Flash in the Pan." One of many highlights among the hour of obscenely groovy deep house is "Some Kind of Game," which you can hear (and dance your ass off to) above. Enjoy!
