Ólöf Arnalds - The Matador EP

New Trackstheneedledrop1 Comment

In lieu of her upcoming string of live shows, Icelandic folk songstress Ólöf Arnalds (formerly of múm) has dropped a free four-track-long EP of previously unreleased material. Above, give a listen to "Af stað," originally written by Arnalds for Björk and Sigur Rós' 2008 Náttúra concert in Reykjavík. You can stream and download the full EP, as well as find info on her upcoming tour dates here via her Bandcamp page. Enjoy!

Earlier this year, Arnalds released her third studio album Sudden Elevation via One Little Indian. Notably, it was her first LP to be sung entirely in English.

múm - "Toothwheels"

New TrackstheneedledropComment

Recently, Icelandic folktronica outfit, múm, debuted a new 7" single, "Toothwheels," taken from its forthcoming album, Smilewound, out wordwide September 6th on Morr Music.

The song is accompanied by a skittering, dimly lit music video that perfectly complements the song's cold, glitchy beat. In a press release, múm stated that Smilewound is composed of tracks that are "airy, relaxed," and arranged around "simple melodies." This is certainly true of this first single, particularly owing to Sigurlaug Gísladóttir's lovely vocal performance.
