Microphones In 2020 is an instrumentally predictable but narratively thorough deep dive into the formative years of singer-songwriter Phil Elverum’s music career.

Mount Eerie with Julie Doiron - Lost Wisdom pt. 2
ReviewsCommentWith meandering melodies and directionless songwriting, Mount Eerie teams up with Julie Doiron for a sequel to 2008's Lost Wisdom that pales in comparison to the original.
Mount Eerie - Now Only
ReviewsCommentPhil Elverum's songwriting enters purposefully rambly territory on Now Only, a worthy epilogue to last year's A Crow Looked at Me.
Mount Eerie - "Distortion"
New TracksCommentMount Eerie has shared the lengthy lead single from his forthcoming album, Now Only. "Distortion" lives up to its title right out of the gate and suggests that this will perhaps be the Ocean Roar to A Crow Looked at Me's Clear Moon. The songwriting is also sounding more Kozelek-inspired than ever, down to the details about a one-night stand Phil had many years ago. Exciting to hear him further develop this candid approach to lyricism.
Now Only drops March 16 via P.W. Elverum & Sun.
Mount Eerie - A Crow Looked at Me
ReviewsCommentThis album is about death.
Mount Eerie - "Ravens"
New TracksComment"Ravens" is our second glimpse of Mount Eerie's forthcoming album A Crow Looked at Me, and it's every bit as devastating as the lead track, "Real Death." Probably even more so when you take into account its considerably longer runtime and beautifully photographed video, which contains (among other things) archival footage of Phil's wife, Geneviève, goofing around on the beach.
Have the tissues ready for A Crow Looked at Me's March 24 release.
Mount Eerie - Sauna
ReviewsCommentWith Sauna, Mount Eerie figurehead Phil Elverum continues in the drone-y, ambient direction he was headed in on 2012's Clear Moon.
Mount Eerie - "Lone Bell"
New Tracks1 CommentCheck out a reworked version of "Lone Bell" by experimental folk musician Phil Elverum, a.k.a Mount Eerie. This copiously auto-tuned redux will be featured on Elverum's upcoming project, Pre-Human Ideas, a collection of 12 songs taken from his two 2012 efforts, Clear Moon and Ocean Roar; all of which will feature new lyrics and will be slathered in auto-tuned. He explains the concept as "almost like new songs layered over the old ones, expanding and clarifying the ideas."
Pre-Human Ideas is due out November 12 via his P.W. Elverum & Sun label. A gentle reminder that Clear Moon was pretty swell:
