Oathbreaker- "Glimpse of the Unseen"

Videosadmin2 Comments

Some intense vocals and riffs from this track on the new Oathbreaker album, Mælstrøm. It's out now on Deathwish.

These guys have a pretty solid take on sludge metal. I'm not gonna sit here and act like it's the most thrilling sludge to come out in years, but these guys have a lotta promise, ya know? Their production is heavy as hell, they know a decent riff when they hear one, and the lead vocalist has a high-pitched rasp that rivals that of Weedeater frontman Dave "Dixie" Collins. She's definitely the highlight of this track.

SoftSpot- • N O U S •

A series of three adventurous tracks from the new SoftSpot release, • N O U S •. This release is loaded with twangy, watery, and reverbed guitars, which are complimented with a pretty interesting lead vocalist. Things get especially gripping when she loads her vocals with effects on the track "Holy Father."

Terry Malts- "Tumble Down"

After a few singles on Slumberland Records, San Francisco trio Terry Malds is dropping a full-length album on the label. It should be out in February of 2012. The fuzzy, simple, and reverbed characteristics that were present on previous material are on this new track, but the total package is a bit thicker, heavier this time around.

Aeroc- R+B=?

A full stream of a mid-December release from Ghostly International. Though this album's release date will probably keep it from appearing on many year-end lists, Aeroc's R+B=? is surely a must-visit for those into the more glitch'd side of IDM. Some of the percussive sounds here are pretty sharp and abrasive, but the grooves and acoustic arpeggios are smooth, smooth, smooth.
