Jensen Sportag's Pure Wet EP

Uncategorizedadmin4 Comments

Lotta dance tracks turning up on the blog today, but who is complianing?

This little EP was sent to me by the good people at Bears Eat Beats. Jensen Sportag is an electronic music duo from Nashville. The sounds spread across their new Pure Wet EP are pretty surprising. The echoing female vocals on "Mapquest" are a pretty stark contrast from the sweet soft rock feel of "Jareaux." Definitely a versatile up-and-comer. Stream the entire release below:

Four Tet- "Pinnacles"

According to this, we've got some new Four Tet on our hands. Seems nothing too official is attached to the track--other than that it was played by Giles Peterson. Just listen and enjoy, I suppose.

The repetitive groove and subtle shifts in sound don't feel too out side of what Four Tet's music usually sounds like, and I gotta admit I'm loving the muddy bass and shimmering piano chords, too. Something you can really get lost in. -

Heavy Ghost's Ten Thousand Years EP

UncategorizedGWHTCB6 Comments

With their new EP, Ten Thousand Years, Heavy Ghost takes you on a fall from a jet into the hazy grey skies of psychedelic sound. Influenced by Joy Division and Boards of Canada, the band sets a mood of groove-laced melodies inside a sinuous cloud. Haunting and deep vocals bring you into a trance-like state that leaves you breathless. As you continue you’re decent, an eerie calmness comes over you. Then, as you hit the ground, you awaken to find that you’re not dead, only dreaming. Your eyes are heavy as you find clarity is just a figment of your imagination, and this beautifully inspired music is reality, the Serling reality of Heavy Ghost.

BOBBY- "Sore Spores"

UncategorizedGWHTCB6 Comments

The story of BOBBY is an allusive one. This Montague, MA rock group just signed to Partisan Records. The legend of BOBBY has grown, and with it, comes their self-titled debut LP on 6/21. Although BOBBY has not materialized, he is said to be the group’s spiritual guide since starting the project with Tom Greenberg. Rising from the mist is their first cut from the album, “Sore Spores,” and what appears before us is a lush garden of floral colors. Behind captivating swirling rhythms gives rise to warm and soothing vocal harmonies taking us on a long and thoughtful walk of appreciation for the mysterious, strange and beautiful world of BOBBY.
